“We seek not rest but transformation.
We are dancing through each other as doorways.”
— Marge Piercy
My secret …
A select few people know a bit about this. Which means they are so special that I let them peek into my world. Now I’m coming clean and letting everyone into my world.
So here’s what I didn’t want people to know …
For many years I’ve experienced long bouts of exhaustion and seriously severe pain, unpredictably coming at random intervals, seemingly out of the blue … and I never knew why. In 2011, I discovered that all along I’ve had a pretty serious illness.
Have you ever found yourself in a place like this?
At first, I didn’t know how a person who was experiencing these things could participate fully in life. I now realize it’s teaching me a lot. I always look for the magic in each situation. And the magic in this one is learning the power of choice and flow … nurturing and focus. This is a beautiful thing!
I’m transforming the way that I work.
I think it was time.
Just like the rush job I described, I’m coming to realize that when I focus on one project at a time, I actually can nurture myself, rest when I need to, and create magic the rest of the time. It does impact the amount of time I have to invest in creative mode but that just means my “choosing-muscle” is getting exercised.
And I’m absolutely able to do wonderful things, when I work from this balanced space.
So I decided to make a big change and select only one design client to dance with each month.
A sweet client said,”When you design it’s a very special form of co-creation … you, me and spirit.” I love that. And I call it The Power of 3. I feel so strongly that in choosing which project most resonates, connecting with you and focusing only on you, there is a power and a magic … and that incredible things unfold.
